Helena, the Viking Warrior Queen of Hamilton celebrated the 40th year of her birth by holding a pagan feast in the halls of Valhalla at Ragnarrök, the boundary mists of time where this world meets the after-life. We honoured the true Gods, Thor – the God of thunder, Odin – the God of war and Freja – the Goddess of fertility. We remembered the time of longboats and pillaging where men were men and women could be men too! The celebrations began at 6:30 PM at the Deanwell school hall, Deanwell Ave on Saturday 18th May 2002. Formal Viking dress was required, but sword and battle-axe were optional.
