Newsletter - 19 October 2011 |
Hi Guys
This newsletter is being sent by e-mail this time as Jake has yet to show me how to update the new website – the website will be updated next week.
This year continues to rocket by at enormous speeds and it won’t be long before it is Christmas…scary!!
Last term was a bit of a disjointed term with colds, flu’s and the school production interrupting the flow of our training a bit. Despite this, progress was made and we would like to congratulate the following people who successfully graded:
The focus for next term will be on getting more people through their grades and I am hoping that most of those that didn’t get a shot last term will be in a position to grade next term.
Unfortunately, as most of you already know, we won’t be holding a summer camp this year – we couldn’t find a date that suited the majority so we are going to try to hold a camp in late January or February next year instead – the water should be a bit warmer and, hopefully, a little less oily. We’ll investigate some dates as soon as we can and confirm them as soon as the hall has been booked.
For the next six months or so, Helena will take over the running of the club as I have quite a number of revisions to make to my thesis before it can go to oral examination – this will require a high degree of focus from me until I am finally done. I will still turn up to training to teach but I may not be able to make it every night.
On a more personal note, both Helena and I are thoroughly enjoying our new jobs at WINTEC. Our roles seem to have reversed…Helena is now desk bound and I am teaching and managing. It is a great change for both of us.
On the health front, my illnesses and injuries seem to have settled and I have now embarked on the painful journey of returning to some sort of fitness. So far so good, but I am having to take it very slowly and carefully.
The dates for next term are as follows: Wednesday 26th October – Monday 12th December.
Remember that you are all welcome to come along to do some free training at 6:00 PM but the formal training sessions will begin at 7:00 PM as usual.
There will be a short instructors’ meeting on Tuesday 25th October at 6:30 PM to plan the term – anyone, brown belt or above, who wish to be involved in instructing are most welcome.
That’s all for now – see you soon
Cheers
Guss & Helena
