Update August-2004 (Mainly for the benefit of Sarcoidosis Sufferers)

Increasing the dose of Azithromyacin to 500mg gave me more herx than I was prepared to tolerate – my cough increased enormously; I found myself choking on my own phlegm; I became intolerably fatigued again and my sleep patterns became disturbed again.

At rest, I was generally ok, but every time I moved, my nose would run; my ears would run and I felt generally very ‘fluey. I also started to feel severe joint pain in my knees, my right shoulder and my right foot.

I therefore decided to cut the dose back to 250mg again. It took a very long time for the symptoms to settle down again.

In the beginning of June (2004) Helena, the Kids and I travelled back to Sweden for a 7-week holiday to catch up with friends and family – the first time that I had travelled outside NZ in nearly 8-years.

We had a fantastic time. In the beginning, I had this terrible, highly productive cough every time I did any sort of exercise – nevertheless, we still held a number of training seminars for our old students and, coughing aside, they were very well received. It (nearly) felt like old times.

Over the course of the next 5-weeks, all symptoms subsided until by the end of the holiday I could safely say that I was just about symptom free. I was walking regularly, cycling and doing some light karate training for myself without any reaction at all – I felt great – really great!

So much so that in the last week of the holiday I decided to have another crack at increasing the dose of Azithromyacin to 500mg. Thy symptoms returned again, but not as viciously as before – they were tolerable.

BUT, one thing started to become very evident – and totally unexpected: my psoriasis was very noticeably disappearing. I have always had the majority of my body (except, thankfully, my face) covered in psoriatic lesions. This coverage has varied, but has always been severe. All of a sudden, I had very little left. My body is totally clear and I only have moderate coverage on my hands and arms, and a few spots on my legs.

The psoriasis continues to recede and is now at a level that I cannot remember since I was a small boy. This has never happened before – WHAT A BONUS!!

This protocol may well have implications, therefore, for a whole host of other autoimmune diseases – Trevor Marshall seems to be cautiously aware of this.

I am still moderately herxy but I am eager to get onto the last stage of the protocol and I will probably start on the low doses of Bactrim in about three weeks time. Herx – bring it on!!

Keep watching!!
